Ordering repeat prescriptions
Patients can quickly and securely order their repeat prescriptions using the NHS App on your smartphone or through the NHS Account by logging in to the NHS App Online.
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App) – This is the quickest method.
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline where you can order and track your prescriptions.
- by bring your repeat prescription slip to the practice.
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.
You can also:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form.
- bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.30pm.
- ask your nominated pharmacy to request your repeat medication for you.
Collecting your prescription
As demand for prescriptions is always high and even higher on some days, please allow five working days for us to process your prescription to send to the pharmacy.
The pharmacist will normally require two more working days to prepare your prescription. You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
Queries about your medication
If you have questions about your medicine/prescription please telephone 01983 522198 and select option 1 between 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4.30pm, or your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

- Phone our Prescription Clerk between the hours of 10am to 12pm or 2pm to 4.30pm, on 01983 522198 and selecting option 1.
- Complete our medication query form.
Pharmacy services
Most pharmacies can provide prescription medication for certain conditions without the need to see a GP or make an appointment. This service, known as Pharmacy First, covers a range of conditions, including:
- impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over
- earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
- sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
- sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years)
- shingles (aged 18 years and over)
Pharmacies can provide advice on over-the-counter medicines. Many are open late and on weekends, with no appointment needed. Most also offer private consultation rooms for confidential discussions with staff.

Think Pharmacy First
Most pharmacies can provide prescription medication for certain conditions without the need to see a GP or make an appointment. This service, known as Pharmacy First.
Pharmacy First means you can go straight to the pharmacist for treatment of some minor health issues, without needing a GP prescription first. If you are exempt from prescription charges, the medication will be free. If you pay for your prescription, you will pay the regular cost of the medicine. To use this service, you must be a registered patient at one of the surgeries on the Isle of Wight. Please note most pharmacies have a private consultation room.
